Well... I'll tell ya!

This stunning photo taken during a ceremony at the Jupiter Lighthouse was taken by my second shooter (@mariahreyphoto). Could I have taken it on my own? Probably. But there is such a benefit to having a second shooter. Let's get into it!

Most people assume you want a second shooter to get second angles, or to occasionally be two places at one time (guys getting ready across town from the girls). That is true! There is another reason to add a second shooter to your gallery, though, that most people don't think of - and that is for creative shots that diversify your gallery by so much, like the one above!

As a wedding photographer who loves to get artistic and creative, my galleries will always have beautiful artistic shots. However, I'm only one person. I'm hired to make sure the most important parts of your day are beautifully captured and preserved for life! So I will NOT usually be taking creative takes on your one time moments like that kiss at the altar, the hand off from dad to husband, and so on. I have to capture them as clearly and attentively as I can. The more opportunity there is to recreate a moment - think during bride and groom portraits - the more creative freedom I have. That is, without my second shooter.

Now, back to the photo above. Could I have taken it? Sure! Would I have? Probably not. I'm not going to step 40 yards away from a ceremony and risk missing an up close, quick, unrepeatable moment during their 10 minute ceremony. Having a second shooter is what made this beautiful perspective above the intimate ceremony possible.

Working well with a photographer who can take my creative vision and execute it from different places I name for them is so useful. I plan these creative shots, or think of them on the go, as well as have time for my second photographer to capture guests during family portrait time. This itself adds so many candid and documentary style photos to your gallery while I'm shooting a portrait that doesn't require a creative angle. I LOVE preserving these moments for you. In addition, having a second creative with their own unique abilities even surprises me as the lead at times as they find a creative way to photograph something. It's another person, a creative, working to deliver amazing photos for your day.

I then gather the images taken, choose the best usable ones, and edit and deliver them seamlessly into your gallery with all of the photos I captured.

I hope that helped you understand the possibilities you get added into your gallery when you book a second shooter!
